Why can't you wear denim to a country club?

I'm going with my friend to a country club tomorrow to go swimming and she told me I can't wear denim. Why do country clubs have that rule?
 
Jeans are considered more casual than other forms of dress, but people I know still do it and I've never seen anyone get kicked out. It's a stupid ass rule especially if you have some dark jeans paired with a nice top and it looks nice. But whatever, just follow the idiot rule, wear a skirt or capris or something, Idk

Denim is considered a very casual type of clothing. It would be better for you to wear khaki or another type of linen that will look nice.
