I mean, I understand you get angry with the Muhammad cartoons.
I get angry when heathens are portrayed as Nazis.
But going as far as to BOMB embassies, and that stuff? Censoring anything that isn't pro-islam? Isn't it taking things a little too far?
The same freedom of religion that Muslims enjoy implies Islam gets NO preferential treatment from the State. No-one does. Why aren't you OK with it?
How come the guys in Doga make ther "Buddy Christ" and cruelly satires Catholicism and nothing happens?
How come we can laugh at Buddhist mystics in our movies, and nothing happens, they take it in a light-hearted way?
How come Christians and Atheists brutally satire each other and nothing happens?
How come you can make fun about Shinto, Jainism, Sikhism, Animism, Paganism... And they'll usually take it in a light-hearted way?
But when we're satiring Islam you get all worked up? Why don't you accept freedom of speech and freedom of religion?
I mean, satire is good for humanity. If we satirize weird, backwards stuff long enough, they will go away. And when we satirize good things, nothing happens. Why don't you take a joke?
It's not about making people suffer, it's about making other people laugh.
Westerners like to satire EVERYTHING... We satire our own religions, for Thor's sake!
What makes you so special as to be spared?
I will never submit to religious law. When I die, one of my gods may choose me, or I will reincarnate.
Before then, I'll rather die on my feet than live on my knees. Infidels shoot back (tm)!
I know it's not funny most of the time.
But as all religions (or lack thereof) get a similar share of the pie, I honestly think it's better to keep freedom of religion unharmed instead of starting makin' things off limits.
Perhaps you're right... I think freedom of speech is more important than not offending anyone, to be fair. I'm just asking because I believe that.
Well, I tend to hit in the face whoever criticizes my beard. My looks are no-one's business!
I know he was expecting a backlash. As I think his action was NOT right, I think freedom of speech protects offensive speech, too.
