Why cant we have term limits for these crooked politican lawyers?

Im watching CSPAN this morning. Im noticing people from my state, and others, I've known over the YEARS who are doing NOTHING to improve our government.

The more I see these aging "career politicians" speak and pontificate and drowl on about themselves and their careers, the MORE our country is being a serious disservice from them. INCLUDING THE 540+ "NEW BREED" OF WHACKO CAREER POLITICIANS JUST ELECTED!!

Term Limits will do this country a lot of good. Why can't the people make that choice?? I long for a politician with the "Jefferson Smith" of 'Mr Smith Goes to Washingon' honest-upfront attitude. Why do all politicians HAVE to be lawyers or long winded-career politicians??
 
Corruption comes with time. Some go in wanting power and prestige from the git go. Most of our problems develop from aged politicians like Senator Byrd and others that want to die in office. It's a great ego trip. With enough signatures we could have a national referendum on term limits. Then and only then will it happen. The politicians will never vote to limit their influence.
 
Not all of the 535 seats in Congress are occupied by "career politicians," and there is more turnover in each respective election than you might think.

Because "the people do not make amendments to the Constitution, our members of Congress do so. They propose amendments which then have to get ratified by the states. The US Supreme Court has said (correctly so; I've read that Court's ruling) that state governments cannot enact term limits on the members of Congress from their own states. As such, it has to be a constitutional amendment.

They don't have all have to be. There are many non-lawyers in Congress. And they don't all serve in Congress for the rest of their lives. I have seen individuals who "retired" after only two or three terms in the House. And they were still young when they "retired."
 
the founding fathers had a good idea, but jews control it. the only way to keep the jews from controlling the government is to replace the government every year. people say we can't do, but we can. you replace them, because they don't have to know dick unlike engineers who have to know. the lawmakers only have to vote on bills. they don't have to know dick.
 
It is a conundrum, the ones who would have to vote for term limits are the ones it would effect the most.

Unless referendums are placed in votes in all 50 states for a constitutional change, it won't happen.

It would be nice though.
