why can't tv shows ever let the bad guys win?

I'm really sick and tired of watching tv shows (cartoons) such as star wars: the clone wars, and have the bad guys always do everything perfectly and then the good guys always win against a ridiculous amount of people, in impossible situations? the only "good" guys that EVER die are random guys that are never are show regulars, or have even ever appeared on the show before

this always happens on every single cartoon show and its pretty annoying because i like the shows until they do something like that, but it doesn't bother me too too much except for this one tv show

i mean the bad guys are FAR cooler in that show anyways, i think the ratings would go UP if they were atleast even
 
because it is fantasy meant to make the watcher fantasize about being that character or a character like it and gives them hope against similar overwhelming odds which we could all use from time to time.
