...draw blood? I have to go tomorrow and get my gestational diabetes test. I failed the screening which I had yesterday. I sugar limit was 135 and mine was 144. So why can't they prick my finger 4 times for the 3 hour test instead of actually drawing my blood! I HATE getting blood drawn and I already have 1 sore arm from yesterday.

If you are diagnosed with GD and have to check your blood sugar every day you don't draw blood you just prick your finger. Shouldn't it be the same??

My husband gets so irritated. He thinks they just need blood and want blood! In my last pregnancy I passed the screening but they took like 10 or 12 vials of blood! Then they called me and said they didn't have enough!! I just questioned why they didn't have enough with all that they drew!! They called me back then and said they have enough and I need not worry. Just a bit strange I thought and now this! I think my hubby thinks they want my blood because of the first pregnancy situation.
 
They have to do a proper workup, which requires more blood than can be drawn out of your finger. Just let them do their job. No offense, but are either you or your husband doctors?

The amount of blood is not enough for them to anything but do the tests.
 
They need more in case of other testing. It sucks but its just procedure.
