Why can't they make a change in law where they switch the price of cigarettes and gas?

We need gas, it is a necessity, cigarettes on the other hand are not, cigarettes are not healthy anyways. Is there any way somebody in the government or congress or somewhere in the powers that be can acknowledge this and flip flop the prices of gasoline and cigarettes so that gas will be made more affordable for us. I drive an hour to work and an hour home every day and its getting out of hand. Does anyone think there is any possible way they can do this, I mean gas stations make more money off of cigarettes anyways, it seems to benefit both the gas station owner and the consumer at the same time, so why not do it?

well gas is expensive because "alledgedly"there not enought oil in the united states and cigarettes are expenisve beacause they trying to get people to stop smoking (which seem not to be working)

here in manitoba a pack of smokes is over ten bucks and the retailer only makes 60 cents, so i don't know where you got your facts from. i smoke, and never drive so i need smokes more than gas. over 78% of cigarette price is taxes so i already am subsidizing the roads and fuel.

You answered your own question.

We need gas, it is a necessity,

It would be harder for someone to quit driving than smoking.
