TV signals are revieved by cable and satellite tv providers. they recieve images in hi definition. If that amount of speeds is possible, why cant ordinary households get such high internet speeds?

Tv signals are electromagnetic waves travelling at the speed of light from a sattelite to a routing station/home viewer.

Internet signals travel through cables which have to be routed, processed, decoded, then sent back. When your accessing a web page theres a constant exchange between your browser and the server while it loads resulting in a) alot of computing which even for computers takes tiem and b) alot of distance for information to travel.

You can if you pay for it. Note: It's much cheaper to just subscribe to DSL or Cable if you compare the bandwidth speeds and latency. Also, most providers will give you a transfer quota (again, unless you are willing to fork out the bucks)
