I know this is a narrow-minded opinion and I am ready for the slings and arrows.
Does the view that suicide is selfish have anything to do with the fact that people in general are not able to empathise with what brings someone that close to the edge of life?
People are outraged that people suffer and die in pain, but mental pain can be torture too and I know of no analgesia to treat it.
