Why can't my ipod touch connect to my bluetooth headset ?

my ipod touch is the latest version (3.1.3) but my bluetooth (tht i got today) isnt getting picked up by it i've done everything right and i dnt know what to do my bluetooth is Omnitech Bluetooth Headset and seems to be working right i even did what the apple website sed to do which is to reset the settings but i didnt restore it but i dnt wanna do tht because then i have to fix everything......HELP !

Try making sure your headset is not currently connected to your phone. If it is, it will not allow it to connect to anything else.
