Why can't my ipod touch connect to my bluetooth headset ? **TEN POINTS**?

my ipod touch is the latest version (3.1.3) but my bluetooth (tht i got today) isnt getting picked up by it i've done everything right and i dnt know what to do my bluetooth is Omnitech Bluetooth Headset and seems to be working right i even did what the apple website sed to do which is to reset the settings but i didnt restore it but i dnt wanna do tht because then i have to fix everything......HELP !
 
back up wat u have on your ipod by going to itunes restore it (maybe it will work) or talk to where u bought the ipod they'll probably help you
