So when I was in grade school, I was always that fast kid that could out-run everyone. I kind of prided myself on my sprinting speed. Once I got into high school, I started to run cross country and track year round without any other sports. And when I say I had a great kick, I'm not talking about running a 5k in 23 minutes and smoking the fat kids at the end. I mean I was running in the 16s and smoking kids. Track came along and I kind of had a signature move in the 1600m where I would sprint (not all out obviously) on the back stretch of the final lap and I would put some serious distance on people.

But today I raced against a sprinter who I though was bad and I was surprised to find out that he can easily beat me in the 100. My time was like high 13s. What is happening to me??

You started out as a sprinter in the 8th grade, right? But then you went long distance. There are two types of muscle:lean muscle and big muscle. Lean muscle gives you more endurance, whereas big muscle gives more explosive speed. You probably gained lean muscle mass while doing cross country and long distance track. Either do some serious leg exercises, or stick with distance. I'd stick with distance, though.
