Why can't I properly connect to the internet when I try to connect my wireless

router to a new main computer? My wireless router was connected directly to my laptop. When I bought a new desktop PC, I disconnected my laptop from the router. I connected my new PC instead to the router using the start up disc that came with the router. But I can't get a connection. What's the problem?
