It only happens from my mail. I can connect out from yahoo home or any other place. Also it is not just slow, it is dead.

If you click a button or link and nothing happens for an unusually long time, your browser is "hanging" or "freezing" (they're the same). This means that it's either waiting for information from a server or busy processing internally.

At certain times of the day, traffic on the Internet can be very heavy, and you might have to wait a little bit longer for a response from servers. It's not that the load on servers is too great, but rather that the lines connecting servers with your computer are too busy. The Internet can sometimes experience bottlenecks and traffic jams, just as freeways do.

Delays caused by heavy traffic shouldn't last more than a few minutes—OK, you're right, that's different from freeways. But anyway, if one does last longer than a few minutes, the best solution is usually to resubmit your request by clicking the same button or link again.

If your browser hangs or freezes frequently, it might help to CLEAR YOUR BROWSER'S CACHE. To do this, follow the steps below for your browser and version.

☼ Internet Explorer 5.x for Windows ▼▼

1. In the "Tools" menu, choose "Internet Options." This opens the "Internet Options" window.
2. Locate the "Temporary Internet Files" heading and click the "Delete Files" button.
3. Click "OK" when prompted.
4. Locate the "History" heading and click the "Clear History" button.
5. Click "OK" when prompted.
6. Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the Internet Options window.
7. Close and re-start Internet Explorer.

☼ Internet Explorer 6.x for Windows ▼▼

1. In the "Tools" menu, choose "Internet Options." This opens the "Internet Options" window.
2. You want to be in the "General" tab, the first tab to the left along the top of this window. If you're not in this tab, select it.
3. Locate the "Temporary Internet Files" heading and click the "Delete Files" button within that section. This opens the "Delete Files" window.
4. In this window, either click "OK" directly, or, first check the box marked "Delete all offline content" if you'd like to do this as well…and then click "OK." You might have a brief wait while this operation is performed. The "Delete Files" window closes and returns you to the "Internet Options" window.
5. Locate the "History" heading and click the "Clear History" button within that section. This opens an "Are you sure…" box. Click "Yes." The box closes, returning you to the "Internet Options" window.
6. Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the "Internet Options" window.
7. Close and re-start Internet Explorer.
