why can't i add iso file to usb flash drive?

I have a 8 gb flash drive. I have a 4.7 gb iso file. when i try to add the iso to the flash drive it says file too large. what the heck? nothing is on the flash drive. So fine I just transfer the rar to my laptop. try to exctract it to iso file, and its saying that not enough disk space. what is going on?
 
ISO files typically are meant to be burnt onto CD's.
It's possible that you downloaded a CD version of the ISO file which does not recognize your flash drive as a suitable form of storage.
try placing it onto a CD, and see if that helps.
