Why are we still in Afghanistan?

Why are we working with a corrupt government that the people hate more than they hate the Taliban? Why are our troops trying to train corrupt security forces who they don't even trust themselves? What is the incentive to stay now that most of the Taliban have moved to Pakistan, Yemen and rabroad
her nations with governments unwilling to prevent them from gaining momentum? What are we doing there? Is the situation salvageable? If so, how?
