...body imaging scanners at home? Why aren't such important devices made available for sale to consumers for home use? I can barely think of a more important device than one that can scan the internal structure of your body and giving you a visual image of what is there?

At present if I had a cancerous looking lump I would have to first of all convince my doctor it isn't just something trivial (people have died because their doctor dignosed cancerous lumps as nothing) Then find a hospital CT scan waiting list and after many weeks I would get the scan.

I have a very simple question, given the astonishing pace of technological advances in this field, why the hell hasn't a model been developed for home use? Are the doctors frightened that, unlike them we would spend considerable time researching our ailments if we could scan inside our own bodies.

I know the scanners are still expensive but I would pay $30,000 no problem for that ability to take images of the internal structure of my body?

Are we (the general public) considered so stupid that the authorities don't think we could safely operate them ourselves. It will be an absolute disgrace if those machines aren't offered to the public as technology advances and they become affordable.
