Why are there fish in our pond.?

My mom hired someone to put a pond in our backyard, that covers around half the yard. its really nice and we've had it for around 2 years. my mom never put fish in it because she didnt want the pond to attract to many animals, but im starting to see minnows. will the minnows grow big so i can fish em out.
 
yes they may be just tadpoles so don't worry be happy.eventually they will leave the pond and they will be frogs.but if you want them gone you can put traps or a few fish in there to eat the tadpoles your decision.
