Why are some Xtians so intent on having "decency" enforced through law...?

When two of the central tenets of Xtianity are:

1) That God is the ultimate judge of what is sinful (decent) or not
2) There are no sins that can't be forgiven.

Doesn't that render any effort to legislate decency at best futile, at worst piously arrogant?

Thanks in advance.
bloody-mary: the laws you listed are about harm, not about decency. Neither are they "Xtian" laws.

While I am not Christian I am glad about some of the Christians laws such as *No drunk driving,*No pedophiles,*No rape,*No stealing, *No killing, etc.. So yeah...
I disagree what about Thy shall not kill and Thy shall not steal and, blah blah blah something sin blah? That last one is my favorite.

It does, Christians need to be more familiar with Romans, particularly the fourteenth chapter where Paul warns about things like this happening and says that it is wrong.

I honestly don't know and I am a christian. Since God is all for free will who is the right wing to try and get their notion of morality legislated ? Most of the time those concerned with everyone else's sins are projecting in order to hide their own just look at politicians. I believe people should strive to be moral but I don't believe in legalism. A lot of people think if they look holy enough and talk the talk they don't have to put their feet in motion which is why they are so quick to start casting preemptive stones.
