Why are some Windows and MAC users so hostile towards Linux users?

Some questions I have answered here on YA have been met with extreme rudeness from users from the other platforms.

Unfortunately its the mentality of the users, each respective user of the softwares thinks theirs is the best, all OS are great, each to their own and whatever works for you let it work for you. Cheers
