Just a quick question.....I had the revision on the SI joint surgery last Thurs....home Sat.....doing pretty good....thank you Lord....now here comes the really scary part.

Before I left the hospital the Dr. instructed the nurse to change my bandages.....I have a monster incision....and then another 3 inch incision...ok.....she comes in takes the old bandage off and slaps on another couple of bandages...smoothes them out even...nice. Off I go to home.....the Dr. had said if they needed changing change them....so my poor husband attempted to do so......very slowly (thank goodness) he peeled back a corner...that was ok...then another....then he just gave a little yank...YIKES....the bandages were too small....no one would realize it...how could you.....and all of a sudden I am minus 3 steri strips and my incision opens like it was a steak being cut (sorry...that is a bit graphic...) husband's worRAB.... PANIC....paramedic daughter is called.....20 min. trip to our house...and that was FAST... (hey she had to go through Daytona!!!) I had stuck a 4/4 square on the booboo and used pressure for the obvious. Ok...daughter had to get supplies....then the professional she is...she fixes everthing...closes the booboo and cleans it and makes sure we are not doing anything abnormal. Then she called my surgeon's office....she did everything right...of course...and they think all will be ok...

That nurse was in such a hurry....could she not see....you sure could...did she not think it would cause a problem....imagine if hubby had pulled the bandage off all at once......horrors......needless to say my nerves were shot...hubby was a wreck and we were just not happy people.. But in the end...all is well, so far.... If only the nurse had take 3 more minutes and done it all correctly.... how could she not realize what would happen....where did she get a degree from....?????

Well, if we all learn anything from this...it is not to just go and pull off those bandages....do it very slowly and carefully...you just never know....

Take care all...

Leslie

Wow! That's really scary - what a story.

I'm glad your daughter was able to help take care of you.

Oh wow I would have freaked out. That is one thing I am always scared of every time I have surgery. I'm glad everything will be okay.
