their children? After all, puberty and sex are normal aspects of human life, so why should they cause so much shame or embarrassment for some people?

I have wondered that too! Or they give them these made up stories like calling their private parts by wierd names or stories about cabbage patches etc!
We try to encourage our children to ask any question they want and if I dont know the answer Ill find out. By age l4 you better start asking your kids cause if they are in ps they all ready know more than you!! and alot of it will be glamourized or untrue so you need to clarify it. I even found out that my daughter was given some inaccurate info in the jhs sex ed class they give. So be sure to go over that material with your kids!
I love that commercial on tv where the girl and guys says "If you dont talk to your kid about sex, I will"!

Some people are just VERY conservative when it comes to things like that. They feel like its something that's very, very private and are shy about discussing it. I don't know why. Like you, I feel like its a natural and beautiful thing. Its a part of every single persons life in some way shape or form.
