i consider myself to be an open minded person, and i don't judge people because that's not my job or my place to do. anyway i was workn' the other day and the my job field is pharmacy: we get alot of patients that's gay, racist and even men that come in the pharmacy feels as though the females that works there are beneath them. at times it makes me mad but i'm there to do my job and provide for my young men that i'm raisn' by myself. some of the ladies that work there have strong beliefs about people lifestyle. some days are real bad because they go on and on about whoever. should i just ignore the statements that are made. or should i ask in a respectful way for them to keep the comments to themselves or take the convo to another area of the pharmacy so the patients won't be able to hear them....

I would mention it to them but then I am not the kind of person that cares much about whether people like me or not. If they didn't listen i'd tell em that I have no choice but to tell the manager/owner. It's not professional and ultimately business will suffer.

I try not to be diplomatic even with those that don't deserve it. I usually try to focus it on my opinion rather than focusing on theirs.

For example I would say:
I think people could be offended if they heard you saying that. or

I think we could get in trouble if someone complained.

Rather than:
You are racist, homophobic etc... That is just creating an argument.

Try to guide them so that they think its their idea to do it in private or whatever people are a lot more positive about something if they think its their idea.

That's the problem with being open minded sometimes you have to deal with those who aren't.

taking the convo to another area of the pharmacy so the patients won't be able to hear them is a great thing. It will benefit a lot of people. The key is to say it without offending anyone. Nothing is worse than people hating you at work
