Ok, so I live in Australia and on soooo many American sites I go on to research dogs, it says to NEVER leave your dog outside unattended. What is with that?!? We have never had an indoor dog before, from the time we get our dogs (6 weeks) to the time they die, they live outside. Most of our dogs are energetic; usually borders, cattle dogs, newfies, shepherds etc and I for one could think of nothing worse than locking it indoors all day and only taking a dog for a walk once or twice a day.
All our dogs have always been fit and healthy - we've never had an over weight/ or underweight dog, we play with them every morning and every afternoon, and they usually get a 5km walk a day plus half an hour of agility 4 times a week. They get taught obedience from 8 weeks old and get a refresher lesson every day. They are well mannered and gentle with everyone we introduce them too, yet when I tell people they live outside they act like I am abandonning them. Yeesh why do people immediately jump to conclusions?
Umm, my dogs are only tied up for for 15 minutes while they are being fed and they have 5 acres for exercise. It is all fully dog proofed and they have a dam to swim in for summer, plenty of trees and long grass to explore. What more could any dog want?
ahh, that makes more sense, thank you for your input
And those photo's are awful, I can't imagine how anyone could get a dog and leave it tied up. I know we have that kind of stuff in Australia as well, but I just get really annoyed when people from America start telling me that I'm not looking after my animals properly. Now I understand why though.
