Why are so many Christian leaders in favor of the war in the Middle East?

They claim Jesus as Lord, preaching that he was/is the ultimate pacifist and Prince of Peace, but in the same breath, they argue that his return REQUIRES WWIII due to their interpretation of the book of Revelation.
In their minds, is it a necessary evil to fulfill their prophecy?
Is this their underlying motivation for promoting this war?
