Why are so many awful and pointless movies being made these days?

Eg I was at my family friends house a few weeks ago and she is like 8 and loves Disney Channel and she made me watch this 'Adventures of Food Boy' movie - it was awful, the actors are awful and there was absolutely no point to it. And don't even get my started on the Highschool musical movies ughh
