The stimulus bill will improve our schools and education and streets and bridges etc.

They are not, they just want 'less' spending & more tax relief. Throwing away cash and saying it's for a good cause is not the right way to stimulate a country's economy. This whole economy crisis is just turning everyone greedy. Money doesn't solve everything.

Democrats want to spend all their money on redistributing the wealth and turning america into a more "socialistic/fascist" economy....

Im so sick of hearing about education . If a parent cares about their kid they will be at home at night and take an interest in their child and make sure they do their homework and get an education

and give acorn some money which they shouldnt be getting and all the other friends of obama come out with some dough too...take all that out and im all for the stimulus for the schools and bridges...leave it and hell no

Is this the same "stimulus" bill that throws money at people so they can convert to digital TV? or were you getting to that part.

We spent more money per student already than almost any other country. Money is not education`s problem it is the students that already know they don`t have to work in school or at a job because the government will pay all their bills while they hang out in the streets getting in trouble.

There is more to education than building newer schools. That won't fix much. We need to pay teachers better, we need to force parents to be involved in their child's education, we need to allow teachers to teach instead of testing focus, we need discipline in the classrooms, and we need to have students be accountable for their actions. If someone wants to learn, they will.

Sure they will. My mother and grandfather were both teachers. Take it from me: the problem isn't money, its how we use it.

Public schools are pretty much recession proof, so I don't see the need to waste "stimulus" money on it.

Actually how does spending money on schools stimulate the economy? My local tax dollars go to pay for schooling. If they mismanage the money why do they deserve more? Streets and bridges??? only a select few companies actually do that work and they do not need any more workers to do the same thing they have been doing for years. How would any of this stimulate the economy?

There is a process called appropriations. That's where a lot of what is in this bill needs to be debated, NOT in an emergency, pass it or you will die stimulus bill!We are NOT against better schools and education!

Schools and education are state and local issues. Using federal money will invalidate many of the programs implemented in those schools due to the requirement to meet federal regulations if such money is taken. You need to look at your civics lessons a little more closely. This is why Education is not typically a funding issue at a federal level.By suggesting that the stimulus package fund school building projects the Democrats have either:1. Shown a desire to have the federal government take the lead in K-12 education in ths US, which will require its own bureaucracy and lead to less innovation, lower performance, etc. (proven more than once in state takeovers of local school systems - centralization stifles performance and innovation).or2. The Democrats didn't even realize that doing this type of funding would create a problem for local school systems.Either way it does not reflect well on the Democrats. It puts the Republicans clearly on the side of the kids and their education.I hope that helps. I'm not being partisan, I'm just reading my civics lessons.

We're not, but making sure Junior has a computer in the classroom doesn't help the economy RIGHT NOW.

The Republicans are not the one that is destroying our schools. The liberals has diluted our education. They believe all is equal and dumb down our education system so all can pass. They put more money on students who refuse to learn at the cost of those who do want to learn. They have cut education to reroute money to their pet project. Look what the Democrats has done to Los Angeles. When California turned into a Democratic stronghold, our college system plummeted. Under the Republicans, California made the UC system the most cost effective means to get a good education. Now that the Dems control California, only European luxury vehicles can be found in the UC parking lot. I have seen what the Dems did to our education system and it horrifies me. As to funding, the Democrats are the one who convince the public to add more tax dollars into our schools and latter on they cut the funding and put the money on some other projects. They use schools as a selling point, but rarely do the increase funding end up as a net gain to our education system.

We are against spending money we don't have when we are going bankrupt and are against the federal government being involved in those things also.
