Why are people protesting the Beijing Olympics? What's the reason?

Like the torch relay being stopped early and protesters always popping out during ceremonial stuff.
 
Short answer: they don't like China's policy regarding Tibet, which they feel should be a free independent state. Also, they don't like China's record on human rights, which they say is not good. They are using the torch relay as an opportunity to gain attention for their cause.
