Why are people obsesed with electronics?

I am 15 and I do not understand why people enjoy them so much. Take facebook,what is so great about it? You talk with people on there but you dont call them or meet them face to face. Twitter,why do I need to know what you are doing every second of the day. And smart phone. They do everything now.People are always holding their phones,and texting and suddenly smart phones are a nessecity instead of a luxary. I would be fine with phone if they were just basic phones to make emergency calls. Computors, People stay on there alot. I live in a generation where it is so hard to have a face to face converstation. I do not believe in facebook,twitter,or smart phones. I do not even have 1 friend because of this. People need to slow down. They are being way to dependent on there smart phones and alot of luxary technology. They are starying to become fake. Why?
