It seems like every time gas goes over $3 per gallon, people start whining again. They complain that prices are "too expensive."
But why?
First of all, $3 or $4 or $5 per gallon is not THAT expensive. Gas is $8 per gallon right now in Norway, and people there are doing just fine. If you can't pay that much, you're probably managing your finances very poorly. You should probably take a look at your budget and your lifestyle and cut out the waste.
Second, people have had THIRTY-SEVEN YEARS to prepare for higher gas prices! The first "oil shock" came in 1973! We have known since 1973 that gas prices are subject to spikes and sharp increases.
If you haven't managed to pull your life or your budget together in 37 years, what I can say? That's just foolish. You might be screwed, and you've got nobody to blame but yourself.
Some people complain that they MUST drive long distances because of where they happen to live. Well that's cute. Since you have known since '73 that gas prices can spike, why haven't you been building up a savings account for fuel, or stockpiling fuel on your property? If you can't afford your lifestyle, then cut back or move or get a bicycle. It's pretty simple stuff.
Do you know why Africans generally don't live 30 miles away from the city and commute by car every day? BECAUSE THEY CAN'T AFFORD IT! If you can't afford it either, then change your lifestyle!
So... am I right, or am I right?
