Why is it when someone gets a bike from a big discount store like Target, KMart, Walmart or Toys R Us, everyone gets all excited and say those bikes are terrible. I just decided to buy a $129 aluminum Magna PK7 bike for exercising and didn't want to waste an extra $400 in case it gets stolen. I just rode it and it feels smooth to me. All my immigrant friends get bikes under $200.
Maybe the parts (pedals) are not as good, yet all the frames use the same metal. Am I right? For common everyday commute, I am sure a discount bike should be more than fine.
Is it a marketing brainwash where the bicycle industry convinced everyone that an aluminum bike that sells for $100 should be sold for $1000 at a bike shop? Aren't all metals the same?
It's mean spirited when a kid with a family who could only afford a Huffy at Toys R Us is told his bike is "junk"!
Any big discount store bike supporters there?
