They are in a 55 gallon tank with about 6 other smaller comunity fish (mollies, and tetras)
when i do change the water i change about 10% of it at once

There may be something wrong with the tank and the chemical levels. Take a water sample to PetCo or PetsMart to get the water analyzed. You could also get strips at the pet stores yourself and analyze them yourselves. =] I know PetCo does it for free but I'm not sure PetsMart.

It probably might be that you put tap water because if you do, some fish can be affected by it.

If you have a smaller tank, that may have led to the demise of the catfish and the suckerfish if they are some of the larger varieties. The molly, if youd had it the entire time youve had your fish tank, was probably near the end of its lifespan.

You should really feed your fish everyday. When you say change the water, do you change all of it? Or just 10-20% of it. You should never change more than 50% of the water unless its an emergency (like a child threw a random chemical into the tank). And standard water changes only need like 10-20%. Any more than that is probably worse for the fish than not changing every month.

Get some test kits. Test your ammonia, ph, nitrates, and nitrites. That should give you some ideas. If everything reads fine though, Im not sure what to tell you.

do you put the declorine stuff in the water? you should be feeding them everyday. & cleaning the tank every week or so
