Why are lawyers paid more than garbage workers?

Without garbage workers, America would be a terrible, terrible place to live in. The streets would smell, rats would take over, etc.

Without lawyers, nothing would happen. Heck, life might be even more peaceful.

So why are lawyers paid more?

I'm waiting for Obama to finally fix this, I work in waste management and I think we should be paid more, socialism when done properly can fix this problem
