Why are different colors of facial hair in codominance expressed in specific regions?

Both my brother and I have orange facial hair localized on our chins, everywhere else we have black facial hair. My understanding of genes is lacking to explain how both my brother and I inherited the same expression of our genetic inheritance, is there some sort of gene that decides this sort of oddly specific facial hair growth?
