Why are cows on a farm more likely to be more susceptible to mad cow disease

than cows in the wild? I know that mad cow disease is caused by prion misfolding, and the only way to get rid of it is to incinerate the dead animals. I did a little Googling, and the best answer I could come up with is farm/corn fed cattle can sometimes consume other cow bone/meat product. Even thought outlawed in the US, it was claimed sometimes it can still happen. Are there any other reasons why farm cattle may be more susceptible to mad cow disease?
