Why are college sports popular/unpopular is some sports (&baseball)?

College football is more popular than NFL
College basketball is more popular than NBA

MLB is more popular than college baseball
NHL is more popular than college hockey

Why are certain college sports more popular than the pros (like football), but nobody pays attention to college baseball while loving the MLB?
