I'm doing magnetic fields and right hand rules
Is this RHR correct for when you have a conductor between north and south poles? Point your fingers in the direction of the magnetic field (always N right?), point your thumb in the direction of conventional current, and your palm pushes in the direction of the force.
Is there a difference between the direction of the magnetic field and the direction of the field lines? Is the direction of the magnetic field always N? and so the field lines are from north to south.
Would that last part explain why I'm not getting the same answers? They're asking for field lines, and I'm drawing the direction of the magnetic field (which is opposite of the direction of the magnetic field)?
this is the situation i was referring to

except, I need the right-hand rule of that (with conventional current), my textbook is using like left hands and not conventional current which is kind of confusing me
and you just said magnetic field always points in the direction that a compass points (north), but your fingers are supposed to always point south (from north to south) when using the RHR in the same situation as that picture i thought?
think i get it now, thanks for the help
