Why am I vomiting several times a week unrelated to time of day or when I last ate?

I've been vomiting on average about once every other day (full set - I throw up repeatedly over the time-span of a minute or so until my stomach is empty) since mid-November. I've seen two different doctors several times about it, and I've gotten some blood tests and an x-ray, but they haven't found anything. They don't seem to be taking me seriously any more. I have an appointment with my GP, but the soonest I could get is in March. It doesn't always happen in the morning. In fact, it happens more often at night. It happens just as often after eating as several hours since eating, even on days when I haven't eaten at all unless I've had nothing but Jello or koolaid or apple juice. If I have eaten or drank recently, I throw up food or drink (I never drink alcohol), but if not, it is very painful and nothing but small amounts of horribly burning clear liquid with minimal signs of blood.

The acid concerns me. I know how bad it can be for you to throw up too much, and I would most like to avoid losing my oesophagus. It hurts so bad during and for several hours after vomiting acid that I could swear it feels like a gash all the way down the back of my throat, like my uvula has been ripped out, but looking down my throat in the mirror, I see no problems at all. No wonder my doctors think I'm just nuts.

Health concerns aside, I feel embarrassed when people come to my house. I worry that maybe it smells like vomit and I may not smell it because I've become accustomed to it, or I'm at somebody else's house and I smell up their bathroom. Or maybe my breath smells of it. My oral hygiene since this began has improved to the point of obsession just because of that fear.

One thing that seemed to help is that I was on a clear liquid diet by my own choice (my mom's idea) for seven days, and in those seven days, I did not throw up once. That is the only relief I've had, but I cannot survive indefinitely solely on clear liquids. Other than that, it does not seem to matter what I eat or what I avoid. If it has substance, even milk or yoghurt, eventually, something's gonna come up, and I make such disgusting sounds, so gross! Oh, by the way, before November, I hadn't thrown up in nearly 23 years, then suddenly I threw up one night, and I was like, "Gross, gross, gross!"

I think I'm reasonably intelligent, and I've been extremely methodical about trying to figure this thing out, but I'm at a loss, and my doctors are looking at me like I'm a hypochondriac, drug-seeking, or bulimic and I'm abusing my insurance or something.

I think I've been thorough, but if any further information might help, please don't hesitate to ask! I think they've added a comment feature here, but I'm not sure since it's been such a long time since I've been here. Anyway, if it's there, you can use it to ask, or you smart people who have been here all along probably know some other way to ask, as long as I can find your follow-up question. I'll do just about anything to get to the bottom of this!
