why am I so shy and have a fear of intimacy?

I hardly ever talk and whenever I talk its for 10 seconds. I have actually went days without talking and I meet my friends nearly every day.
Im 19 and still a virgin, I just feel like I wont be good enough so I dont even bother trying.
How can I become more social?
