Why am i not getting 4 gallons?!

Another excellent idea.....but "vapor lock" is a different condition entirely.

If all else fails and you are still reluctant to take it to a mechanic, you might try draining the tank out completely, both for the aforementioned solid sediment and the possiblility of water accumulated in the tank.

I think that is what i will have to do unfortunately is take the whole thing apart one day and have at look at inside. I will keep you up to date

Thanks again:horse:

With my '07 my light doesn't start to flash til around 150 miles and one time I actually ran the bike to 197 miles...of course I only had 3/10ths of a gal left. Have the bike checked it sounds like a fuel line problem.

when filling the bike sit it upright and keep the nozzle on ver very low! sit there and watch the gas go in. i sat there just filling and filling till it hit 4 gal. the room is there just take your time and go slow till it hits 4 gal

uhhh.... this doesnt sound right. My C50 fills more gas on the kickstand rather than upright. Did they change something?

Being on the kickstand puts the fill port at the highest possible point. I always fill slowly until there is gas IN the throat of the fill port.

what am I missing here?

My rule is to be off the bike, stand down and fill. The small amout of gas you may get sitting on the bike is not worth being immobile in case a cager decides to slam into me. It happens.

You should leave it on the kickstand, i think it even says so in the owners manual. I used to sit on mine and keep it level when i first got mine and i wasnt getting the tank full. Then i read that it was supposed to be on the stand. I think it has a little to do with where the cap is on the tank and leaning on the stand allows the gas to move over to the other side of the tank while allowing more gas in.

Hey Texan Z
What mods have you done to your bike? I have a 07 C50SE with Hardcrome 21/2 DD's and I actually get an increase in my mileage. I can get a little over 162 miles to a tank :bluethum:and that is pushing it almost to the limit of the tank and I still have no sputter. You may have debris or dirt in the tank. My suggestion to you is to purge the tank then try it and if that don't work definatly take it to a mechanic and have them look at it.

I don't have any mods yet, but i just ordered V&H straight shots and a power commander III, that will definately help. Me and my friend are going to drain the tank here in a couple weeks. :jump:

Do NOT fill the bike upright. If it give you a little more space for gas, what happens with you put it back on the stand, the gas come out the vent and all down your bike onto the hot engine and/or electrical connections. It is absolutely possible to torch your bike doing this.

Of course, most people get by without a problem but it's not worth the risk IMHO.
