I've been memorizing this Shakespeare sonnet basically the ENTIRE day as well as yesterday and partly the night before and I STILL have not been able to memorize it completely without messing up every time. I don't understand why this is happening with me. This is what I've done:
1. I made sure that I understood what the sonnet meant before I started memorizing. I paraphrased everything, just like our teacher wanted.
2. Then I went one line at a time, making sure I knew it. And have READ and said the sonnet out loud a lot.
3. I went on itunes and got a free download of a speaker saying the sonnet and have listened to it a million times.
Then, BAM, I practice in front of the mirror or try to go through the whole thing and I mess up. Or I take a break and then I completely forget the whole thing or only remember bits and pieces.
