Why am I constantly being asked to install FLASH PLAYER even though I have done so...

...numerous times? every time i wish to surf the net i am asked to install flash, which i do but the next day i am asked again, its starting to get on my nerves,
everything needs flash now even e-bay & the BBC,
I am using vista home premium and IE 8
what is causing this to happen and how can i fix it?
