Can I ask if you mean college and technical education?
Conservatives support free private education up to high school level, while liberals do not. Liberals tend to give more money to support universities and technical schools.
I attended highly a regarded public high school, an expensive private boarding school, and a catholic high school. I have also coached and tutored briefly for public schools. I can say there is a world of difference between public and private high schools. Especially Catholic education, which America is cheaper, measurably better, not subject to political propaganda, and instills the discipline young people strive to achieve at this time in their lives.
I think in most cases America has struck a good balance between affordability and responsibility in school subsidies. Community colleges in America are very inexpensive, and the state systems do a good job of ensuring credits are transferable. My tuition was 1200 a semester a quite a few years ago, and if i was poor it would have been free.
Economic studies show that tuition increases by the exact amount that government subsidizes it.
