Who's going to watch Star Trek when it comes out?

I went to that as well, star trek really doesnt intrest me, its always been something my dad watchs. I wouldnt have chosen to see it, but i really enjoyed it. Stunning special effects and great story line.

I wanted to go my local cinema tonight (well tomorrow technically) at 00.30, but its an hour drive there, and i cancelled my debit card last week and am still waiting on the new one, so i cant book it, and i dont fancy a 1 hour trip at 11.30pm to get there and find it fully booked:mad:

cant go tomorrow or friday either:(

Saturday it is then.

Im going to see it on friday. Im in 2 minRAB about it. Im a big star trek fan so im excited about any new star trek production, but im a bit anxious that it will not be star trek as I know it, with the introduction of JJ Abrhams and the objective to bring in new fans. I dont know. Fingers crossed though. Cannot wait:D Roll on friday

Just got back from watching it & I gotta say that not only is it 1 of the best films I have seen ages, but also beat the living crap out of the last Star Trek movie :D.

It was well worth the overpriced munchies & the late start time. This is 1 film I will be purchasing on dvd when it gets released.

I went to see it last night at a Vue 'Mystery Movie' screening (which was obviously always going to be Star Trek!)

As a casual Trek fan i loved it. Casting was great, pacing was spot on, effects were amazing and it was just an incredible couple of hours of film.

Definitely recommended.

You know it'll be good. JJ can do no wrong. From the fantastic Alias, through to Lost, creating the best Mission Impossible from the 3, Cloverfield wasn't half bad either. I'm sure he's done a fine job.

Is it just me or did the die hard Trekkies seem to want some uber geek to direct it?

Its a good film, but not an instant classic.

Introduction of new characters - 9/10 (I like Simon Pegg, so I waited ages for Scotty to appear but almost as soon as he appeared I wished he would go again - annoying)
Plot - 5/10
Action/FX - 7/10

Probably this weekend at some point.

Haven't seen all the Star Trek films (last one I watched was the onwe where Patrick Stewart acted William Shatner off screen).

This one looks interesting.

Saw it this morning and it's a very good to excellent film :) Story, as in most Star Trek films, is a tad contrived however where this film excels for me is the casting and acting. Kirk, Spock an McCoy are absolutely spot on as the younger versions of their tv series personas with Sulu, Uhura, Chekov and Scotty very close behind. The story is a scene setter so don't expect 120 mins of action. It has cleverly left itself open for an infinite number of sequels. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for the next installment :D

I thought it was a great 2 hours. Not perfect though. There were things I liked, and a few things I didn't.

But huge credit goes to Karl Urban for absolutely nailing McCoy, although some really helpful scriptwriting helped him out.

But Uhura and Spock getting it on together was just wrong. Also, the writers and Simon Pegg have contrived to murder Scotty's character. I think they've only seen the later TOS movies where James Doohan was used purely as comic relief.

It was a good film, and I was pleasantly surprised, never really having enjoyed and previous Treks. The special effects were pretty stunning.

I really shouldn't have gone with my flatmate who is a mega Trekkie though, every 5 minutes I felt the seats vibrate as he sat their gleefully giggling or doing silent hand-claps. He must have been laughing at a lot of "in-jokes" which I didn't find funny, but I guess it's good that the film has a lot of references to the franchise and isn't a pure reboot.

I'm not sure when I'm seeing it or where but I'll be going at some point during opening weekend. I've never been a "Trekkie" but I've seen enough to be interested to see what a big screen movie version can do. I think it'll be a good film in its own right, at the very least.

I have two free tickets for cineworld.
My son, who is not a kid he is 24,keeps nagging me to go with him.
His partner is not interested in it.Looks like i will be going next week.
