Who would you cast as Jonny Quest?

While standing in the theater parking lot after seeing Iron Man last night, my friends and I were talking about cartoons being made into live action films. One cartoon we spoke of was Johnny Quest and after much deliberation over who we would cast as the characters we came up with pretty much nothing. Who would you cast as the main characters in a live action Johnny Quest film? What villains would make an appearance?

That's a pretty tough call, considering the kind physical stunts Jonny and Hadji would have to do (And I'd use REAL actors for the stunts, not lame CGI), you'd almost have to go with the 'Real Adventures' teenage Jonny as opposed to the 12 yeard old of the original series. Having said that:

Dr. Zin: Chow Yun-Fat. You need a guy who both threatening AND be able to throw down with Race.

Hadji: I'm saying an unknown actor for the part, mainly because I don't of any young Indian actors to really choose from.

Race Bannon: Mr. Bourne himself, Matt Damon. Just give him a buzzcut, and you'd get past the lack of silver white hair.

Dr. Quest: Kyle McLachlan. He's got the charm and wit Benton needs, and I'm sure with a full grown beard he'd look the part.

Jonny: As stated earlier, a LOT of physical stunts are needed, and I want the actors to do as much of their own stunts as possible, so a young kid's automatically out. Having said that, my first choice is Freddy Highmore.

Well, Warner Bros. actually is developing a Jonny Quest live-action movie, but I wonder how they'll pull it off. I know they're Spielberg and Peter Jackson are making Tintin movies, but they're mostly using mo-cap techniques to emulate Herge's original designs.

Jonny Quest: The Movie will likely resemble the original 60s series than the recent 90s update. Warner Bros. aren't really creating products with teenage Jonny Quest these days, but mostly the tween-sized version of the character, the one the general audiences whom the film will be targeted to will remember the most.

He'd have to be a newcomer, of course.

However, considering the box office failure of Speed Racer may have Warner Bros. reconsidering adapting Jonny Quest into a feature film at this time.

I think they'd do the same thing they did with Korean pop star Rain in Speed Racer, cast somebody who's known overseas to draw in audiences there. Right before SR came out, Variety had this article on how H'wood movies are facing more competition against home-grown cinema in overseas markets. Casting Rain was part of that strategy, and I think they'd do the same with Hadji- picking some tween Bollywood star.
