Since Brian Williams became anchor of the NBC Nightly News in December 2004, both ABC World News and the CBS Evening News have each had multiple changes at the anchor chair.
Seeing that Brian Williams just turned 50 earlier this year, he will likely continue to anchor the Nightly News for at least another 10-15 years. It's almost certain that the other two networks will have at least one more change of anchors while Williams remains in place.
Charles Gibson is 66. I can't imagine a scenario in which he would continue anchoring beyond 2013 (which is when he turns 70, and is also when either Obama starts 2nd term or a new President is inaugurated). It's certainly possible that he may retire sooner than 2013.
Seeing that Katie Couric's ratings have been absolutely horrid, I just cannot imagine that she would remain anchor for another 10 or 15 years.
Who do you think will eventually replace Gibson and Couric as evening news anchors? Any chance that either of the networks (especially CBS) may dump the evening news broadcast entirely in the next few years?
