Johnny Weissmuller who played Tarzan in half a dozen movies in the 30's.
He was the world's best swimmer in the 1920s winning 5 Olympic gold medals and one bronze medal. He set 67 world records and was never defeated in any race (swimming).
Jim Thorpe in 1912 won Olympic gold medals in the pentathlon and decathlon. He later played professional football and baseball.
