Okay let me get this started my way damnit. Religious people love to jump down your throat? Fuck them. Why the hell do they hve the right to tell you you are going to hell for disagreeing with them yet when you point the discrepencies in their beliefs you are twice as hated as before. I am openly Atheist and I know alot of you are going to have bullshit to spit at me. I have lived for a while now and have seen alot of things in my short 18 years. I have made my damn decision so keep your you are going to hell shit to yourself, because if I am wrong and there is a hell then you are banning yourself to sit next to me for eternity. You call your words and your nightmare causing bedtime stories logical, but how is it logical for an all knowing loving being to allow so much damned suffering?:confused:
 
Im pretty religous but there are thing that annoy me about this.

My mom has dranged me to all these Churches and theres this one church that ive been to that it todally Bull-shit! At this church they arent allowed to do anything! They can watch TV, go to the Movies, Listen to Music, or Play Video Games! It was so weird just being there...everyone was amazed to see that i had a Cell Phone because very few had them in the area. It was hard making confersations with them cuz all they talked about was God and such.

It was really messed up
 
I understand and agree with the irate feelings toward the self-righteous religious (often when this word is used we are discussing our feelings toward the fundamentalist Christians) people running around slamming their Bible at everyone and then when no one's looking, sneaking off and having affairs, molesting their own children, and other likewise lovely things. That is complete and utter bullshit. (And it was also a totally run on sentence. LOL)

I also think that there are a lot of people that label themselves as "Christian", such as the above, that don't follow their so-called leader's/God's teachings at all, and more than likely have never read a word of the book that they go slamming around at people. They've just listened to a preacher's views on it for ions and decades and then spew the same bullshit they've heard.

On the other hand, I also agree that there are some truly kind and loving people with good hearts and intentions that do NOT do the above self-righteous CRAP, and do NOT think they are better than the rest of the world. Some of those people also call themselves Christians, and make me more apt to believe that they ARE.

I don't think Christians are morons, I don't think Buddhists are morons, nor do I think that of anyone else of any OTHER denominational or spiritual faith. I only think that the self-righteous, bigoted, hate-mongering assholes that parade under all DIFFERENT banners of denominational/religious title are MORONS. It doesn't matter a damn to me WHAT god's title they stick on themselves in my opinion. An ass is an ass is an ass. Uhm...and they come in ALL different ASSY flavors and names.

I think in my mind the differentiation is in being religious/over-zealous, or religious/spiritual.

One time in my health class this girl told me, "Your opinions aren't right and they don't matter to anyone because you're not a Christian". It really pisses me off when people think they're better than someone else because they're religious.
 
I'm still of the opinion that Tostig's Apple Butter Church is where I want my membership.....

The only real problem with it I see, is that apple butter really IS better than anything else, and it might make me a religious zealot.

Oh well....FUCK IT.

Okay, I know that there are a lot of Christains that can be like the people you are talking about. I've seen my fair share of them. I say a lot because not all are like that. On the other hand, I've been through my fair share of being ragged on for believing in God. There are Atheists who are just as bad about "preaching" their side as the extremist Christains. I personally believe that you believe the way you believe, and I believe the way I believe. I'll discuss with you why you believe the way you do and why I believe the way I do, but I don't get into any conversation that begins, "You're wrong to believe that there is a god because. . ."
 
I'm with tiger. I'm an atheist, and i'm happy to live and let live. I've got my beliefs, you've got yours, keep them to yourself unless you discuss it in a calm, adult and rational manner without damning me to eternal damnation for not being a good enough person.
