The song, in its famous version (by Commander Cody), doesn't make much sense. A lincoln that looks like a Model A doesn't pass the "who cares" test.

In the original song, the point of it is that being a Lincoln, it's a 12 cylinder flathead drivetrain, but it looked like a Model A. You just have to replace 8 with 12 in the lyrics and it suddenly makes some sense. That's how Charlie Ryan wrote it.

This song was written about a real car, although that's neither here nor there.
