I need to rollover my old 401k and I'm not sure where to do it at. I am interested in taking a bit of a hands on approach - I love getting on and looking at fund and stock prices even if half the time i have no idea what I'm looking at - but the truth of the matter is that at this time I know nothing about investing. I simply want to be able to put my small amount of money in an account, be able to look up information online and try to get an understanding on what is going on, not have to pay a bunch of fees and hopefully make a bit of money for retirement.
I have done a lot of looking at online brokers but it's hard to get a real read on them.. I can't tell what makes one better than another.. with nothing really separating them outside of the fees that they charge. Is that accurate? Where would I find the least fees but adequate enough information that I can make some fairly informed decisions, or get enough help that I won't just be throwing away my money?
Thanks.
