I'd like to know how other people were impacted after 9/11...because I know it changed my life!
I would like to know how 9/11 affected other people. I remember that day like it was yesterday. It changed my entire life. I am now in EMT training and plan on going into Paramedic training after alot of questioning if I wanted to persue this career...after that I knew I wanted to do this...

A few Weeks later I was laid of from baggage handling since fewer people were flying.
I always will remember Sept 12 as the day it stopped being tacky to put a US flag on a car not a former US brand (Chevy Ford Dodge) or made in the US ( like California Toyotas and Ohio Hondas)

i just came off a third shift night and was in the bed sound asleep. my son came in and woke me up with a story of how a plane just crashed into the world trade center. i thought great another aircraft just went down. i told him to just leave me alone and went back to sleep. about an hour later, he came in and said another plane just hit the other tower. i being in the army, bolted out of bed and went and turned to news to fox. i was glued to the tv. about another hour after the second plane hit the second tower, i received the first of several phone calls. it was then i got the message to head back in, we were on alert status. i left with my gear and uniforms, and my son was standing there with tears in his eyes and he asked me "dad, are we at war?" i told him i didn't know but as soon as i find out, i'll let you know. my wife was at work and she came straight home. when i got to the company area, it was a madhouse. i bet i answered 100 phone calls that day. a day i'll never forget.

It affected me in a very strange way. I live in a "military town"
(some think of it as the archetypal one)--my husband is retired from the Air Force and still works on the base, while one of my sons is stationed at the local Army post.

All day I just sat in front of the TV, crying, calling my relatives back home--and wishing my kids were with me.

You see, emotionally I reverted to the time when they were small and I could delude myself into thinking that, if they were with me, I could somehow keep them safe. Add to this the fact that I also wanted my husband with me, so that I could feel safe, too.

I guess that day was an eye-opener for me--and probably for a lot of other people as well. Our sense of safety has been, if not destroyed entirely, at least seriously damaged--perhaps irreparably.

Less we forget,
may the victims sleep in heaven, and the terrorist rot in hell.
God give comfort the relatives

I was in 7th grade english, when another teacher rushed in to tell my teacher. God, she was scared shitless. We turned on the TV, and then, a few minutes later, the principal made an announcement concerning the attacks.

After that, however, he declared that the school would basically shut down the rest of the day; we just went into 'lock-down' mode and stayed where we were unless it was an emergency. We kept the TVs on for the rest of the day, and then went home. I remember that there was a prayer service at my church, either that night or the next day...

Yeah, it's pretty much the big "where were you when..." of this generation....

Hi I remember 9/11 what a horrifying day i'm Canadian but alot of people here were upset and shocked by it I was pregnant then and had to hear about it all day long by customers it was terrible I tell you

Exclamation point?

It impacted everybody's life. It started up the Bush-Cheney war machine.

Hopefully Bush won't attack Iran and *really* wreck things. Hopefully.
